Course Presenter: Jayne Etherington

ENGLISH – LANGUAGE, LITERACY, CURRICULUM DESIGN, WHOLE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
Jayne Etherington is an education consultant who has been working in schools and the advisory service for over 30 years. She has had extensive experience, working across four counties in Wales, as a primary teacher, a senior leader, local authority Literacy Adviser and Challenge Adviser.
Jayne delivers in-school or online support and training for all aspects of language and literacy. She offers whole school literacy audits to assist with effective self-evaluation and school improvement. She also advises on planning for progression in LLC and designing a creative, literature-inspired curriculum.
She is passionate about the outdoors and protecting the environment and this underpins much of her work. For 10 years Jayne was a Language and Literacy Adviser, working for Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire local authorities. She provided bespoke support for schools, delivered highly effective training and created resources to inspire quality teaching and learning.
In recent years, as a Challenge Adviser in Carmarthenshire, Jayne has advised head teachers and senior leaders on whole school improvement, including vision and design for the Curriculum for Wales (CfW) and effective pedagogy. She has taken a strategic lead in English literacy, outdoor learning and sustainability. In this role, she has also led successful local and international cross-curricular projects, inspired by literature and nature.
As a qualified life coach, Jayne is passionate about supporting well-being in education. She is available to offer 1:1 coaching for head teachers and to advise senior leadership teams in effective development planning and strategic leadership.
As well as being a member of the Collective Learning team, she is also an independent education consultant, keen to support schools with the Curriculum For Wales at this crucial time in education.
