Established in 2010 by Karen Mills and Colette Pitts, Collective Learning is committed to providing the highest quality INSET and support across the curriculum for schools and educational settings.
Karen qualified as a teacher in 1976 and has only recently left Newport City Council where she worked for 21 years: 14 years as a classroom teacher and 7 years as Curriculum Improvement Advisor for Science and ESDGC. She has an MA in Early Years Education and is a team inspector for Estyn. Karen was one of the authors of Module 6 for the Foundation Phase and was instrumental in the writing of the Newport Science SOW. She has just completed an ESDGC resource for the Foundation Phase commissioned by DCELLS.
Colette has worked in education for over 25 years, as a classroom teacher, deputy headteacher (primary) and a lecturer in FE and HE colleges, She has also worked extensively with local authorities and educational charities in both England and Wales. Passionate about education for sustainable development and global citizenship (ESDGC) she has extensive experience at both school and policy level. Colette has an MSc in Environmental and Development Education and has recently completed a Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership at Worcester University.
