This course will explore the best ways to encourage the writing of fiction, non fiction and poetry across the curriculum. It will focus on subjects such as History, PSE, RE, Drama and Geography and demonstrate the ways in which these subjects can be accessed through creative writing approaches.

it will show how fast-paced, scaffolded lessons across the curriculum can improve children's writing skills. The approach will be illustrated using work from schools across the UK.

Course Provider: Alan Gibbons

Alan Gibbons is a prize winning children's author who, after 20 years teaching experience, recently became a full time writer and educational consultant. Winner of the Blue Peter Book, Angus and Leicester Book Awards and twice runner up in the Carnegie Medal, Alan makes regular appearances on BBC radio 4 and BBC television. He runs workshops in schools and libraries as well as providing INSET for teachers.
